Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks to transport freight within local areas, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA regulations
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to optimize delivery routes and meet scheduled delivery times.
- Handle dry van trailers.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving within local areas.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety procedures for truck loading/unloading.
- Experience operating 53' dry van trailers.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling and manual handling techniques for freight security.
- Excellent navigation skills using GPS navigation systems to ensure efficient route planning.
