What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Planner position at New York Air Brake?
The Material Planner manages the production and material flow through the segment’s work centers to provide schedule adherence to the Master Production Schedule. To support this objective, data in several system modules, including the capacity requirements plan, data integrity of work orders, work order maintenance, work center maintenance, dispatch control, lead times, lot sizes, etc., must be managed daily.
- Develop, maintain, and lead the Material Requirements Plan (MRP)/Production strategy to meet the S&OP Production Schedule and customer orders for manufactured material.
- Responsible for leading the on-time customer order and supplier delivery fulfillment KPI's, while meeting inventory turns rate targets using Supply Chain Excellence policies (SCE).
- Maintain systems daily, including but not limited to production schedules, floor stock, and WIP (work-in-progress) inventory transactions, scrap transactions, ECN management, COGI errors, and kanban/control cycles.
- Provide management with measurements that accurately define our position to the MPS (Master Production Schedule) and MRP (material resource planning). This includes reporting past due hours, anticipated delays, and tooling or support problems.
- Participate in Lean Daily Management (LDM) and continuous improvement projects using Knorr-Bremse Production System (KPS) and SCE techniques and policies.
- Ensure a smooth flow of production that optimizes cost, quality, schedule adherence, and productivity of the non-exempt workforce.
- Daily interaction with Sales/Demand Planning departments for Customer order fulfillment.
- Provide support and assistance to other colleagues, as directed, and perform any other duties as requested.

- Global knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems, modules, including module-interfacing.
- SAP system knowledge strongly preferred with a detailed understanding of shop floor control, CRP, MPS, and MRP modules.
