Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing accurate information and scheduling appointments efficiently while practicing excellent phone etiquette.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies, and managing electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate care plans in accordance with clinic protocols.
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry using 10-key typing skills, document review, and managing office supplies to keep the front desk organized and efficient.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative support role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Eaglesoft, Medent or Dentrix.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and medical billing procedures including Medicare guidelines.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records management software.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly demeanor; strong phone communication skills and professional phone etiquette are essential.
- Office management skills including filing, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and multi-line phone system operation.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
