Qualifications:
- Strong technical leadership, with a passion for producing robust, high-quality solutions.
- Strong team leadership, with a strong results-focused orientation.
- 4 years hands-on experience working within the Databricks Lakehouse environment or other cloud-based environments (GCP, Azure, AWS, etc.).
- 4-year college degree in computer science or related field.
- Demonstrable deep knowledge and experience in Data Engineering, Cloud based data strategy and transformation, cloud architecture and engineering.
- One of more Technical certification in the following: Cloud Data Architect, Databricks Data Engineering Professional, or other cloud data engineering professional certification.
- Strong demonstrable expertise with the Medallion architecture (i.e., “multi-hop architecture). coupled with deep hands-on experience building, scalable ELT pipelines.
- Technical depth and advanced-level hands-on experience developing SQL code.
- Technical depth and advanced-level hands-on experience developing Python code.
- Familiar with ML & AI concepts and application, as this role primarily supports the data science team who develop and productionize machine learning models.
- Proven experience developing cloud-based solutions.
- Experience with marketing and advertising technologies and their application within the cloud.
- Strong problem solving or analytics experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Passionate about working in a fast-paced, and fluid multiple workstream environment.
- Demonstrates a high sense of urgency, with a strongly action-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Vice President of Data Science, the Director of Data Engineering plays a critical role scoping and delivering cloud-based solutions with our clients.
- Responsible for leading a team of data engineers to develop, test and manage highly scalable and reliable data pipelines to extract, load and transform complex data from a variety of external systems efficiently within the Databricks Lakehouse environment.
- Responsible for implementing and instilling a DevOps mindset across the data engineering team, with a desire to automate all data ingestions and data flows throughout the data ecosystem.
- This is a hands-on leadership role, with the primary responsibility for developing algorithms and applying cloud intelligence to build, grow and manage a dynamic data ecosystem.
- Responsible for creating robust data validation methods and analytics products.
- Responsible for maintaining data privacy and compliance are important competencies.
- Govern our data sources and technology platforms to ensure security standards are met.
- Responsible for explaining, designing, and resolving technical or design conflicts that may arise.
- This role must display a distinctive level of subject matter expertise in architecting and delivering advertising / marketing technology and data strategies that enhance client value.
- Must embrace working closely with data analysts, data scientists and sales executives to deliver ambitious projects for our customers, for whom short turnaround time is imperative.
