ELECTRONICS PRODUCTION LEADER/TRAINER

This is a lead/trainer position.

Tired of being a cog in the machine? Have ideas to improve your workload but management doesn't care? Looking for growth opportunities but will they never happen at your current position? Notice that some workstations are overworked while others sit idle? Looking for a real team where everyone helps everyone out when a big job comes through?
Look no further, NVU is looking for individuals that want to go to the next level as we staff up our critical core team.

This position is perfect for a well-organized self-starter with good communication skills. You can set the pace for the line and manage the workload to effectively roll out product. Work directly with the production supervisor, management and other departments to aid in communication and efficiency. Continuous training and cross-training with your team members to build a versatile workgroup and develop new talent.

We’re going to invest 6 weeks getting you fully trained on all main production stations, from pulling orders and dials to crimping bezels to boxing up and preparing for shipment. While each station is separate, fully training a leader gives them an insight into the entire operation, enabling a big picture mindset. You’ll see how each station is responsible for their own supplies, parts management and parts integration from one station to the next.

During this period, you will learn how to find our build processes, follow them, as well as our project management and prep system so you can be 100% self-sustaining. At the end of training you’ll be able to jump into any of the 3 main production stations, run on your own or help as needed to relive bottlenecks. You’ll also start submitting process updates for clearer communication and efficiency. These updates will enhance your ability to train and take on your own new team members as the departments grows.

If you value collaborating, teamwork, passing knowledge to the next generation of team members, continuous learning and development, this might be right for you.

If you like to work on your own, struggle with detailed instructions or have trouble with feedback, this is not for you.

Core requirements:

We understand that most people will say they have these traits, if you don’t have them, it will be apparent very quickly.

Good hands: Many of the items we manufacture have small parts, good hands are essential)

Craftsmanship: We are a manufacturer, but instruments require more than just assembly and testing. Most of the parts not only add function but also add design elements other manufacturers just can’t do. Taking a craftsman’s approach mans taking the extra care to make sure its right and beautifully built.

Power tool use: We use hand drivers, small drill presses, screwdrivers and pliers every day.

Good eyes or glasses: With all of these small parts we do provide magnifying lenses at workstations, but good eyes are essential.

Attention to detail: In addition to having our product work, it also must be beautiful. Parst aligned, clean, gauges are the jewelry for the dash!

Welcomes feedback: We’ve been doing this a long tome and with most assembly there is really only way the parts an be put together. We have extremely efficient ways of doing these tasks and we want to share them with you. It goes both ways: we want your feedback too!

Collaborator: Works well with others. This doesn’t mean working side by side this means working on something together either to produce an item or solve a problem.

Communicator: Clearly communicates with others, able to describe the issue or answer.

Punctual: We understand things happen but overall as a team we all work together at the same time. You don’t see half the football team on the field then the rest show up later.

Ability to follow step-by-step instructions: In addition to having a bigger picture with day-to-day duties, the ability to slow down for assembly tasks, following each step diligently.

Computer Skills: We’re not expecting anything too crazy. Most of our computer work is web-based and uses Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. We write emails and print instructions to be packed with products.

Responsible: This means owning something. Sometimes you need to make a decision to move the team forward and not sit on the sidelines, waiting for what to do. Sometimes it’s the wrong decision, own it, learn and let’s move on and grow from the experience.
