What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at New-Tech Packaging?
Role: Accounting Manager
Reports to: VP Operations
Core Purpose: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, compliance, efficiency, and timeliness of accounting operations that support strategic decision-making and organizational health.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all Accounting Operations
· Financial Management & Reporting
o Prepare monthly financial statements
o Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP
o Analyze financial results and provide insights to leadership on performance and trends
· Budgeting & Forecasting
o Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting
o Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis
o Partner with department leaders to align financial plans with business objectives
· General Ledger
o Ensure general ledger integrity in accordance with GAAP
o Prepare journal entries as required
o Ensure appropriate GL mapping required for business processes
o Maintain accurate inventory and cost tracking (for a manufacturing environment)
· Accounts Payable (AP)
o Perform AP cycle tasks including invoice processing, approvals, and vendor payments
o Ensure timely and accurate payment of obligations while optimizing cash flow
o Adhere to controls around purchasing, approvals, and disbursements
o Resolve discrepancies or billing issues
o Monitor and improve AP processes for efficiency and accuracy
· Accounts Receivable (AR)
o Perform AR cycle tasks including timely invoicing, cash application, and collections
o Monitor AR aging and collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to resolve disputes and improve aging
o Ensure credit policy adherence and evaluate customer creditworthiness
· Internal Controls & Compliance
o Ensure internal controls exist and are enforced to safeguard company assets
o Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
· Treasury & Bank Management
o Monitor cash flow
o Optimize working capital, including receivables, payables, inventory, and tax obligations
o Oversee banking relationships and financing activities including preparing the borrowing base certificate
· Sales & Use Tax
o Leverage Avalara platform to ensure compliance with SALT ensuring sales & use tax returns are accurately prepared and timely submitted
o Work with Customer Service to ensure customer exemption certificates are properly maintained

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting
- Proven experience managing AP and AR functions and improving cash flow performance
- Proven ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations
