As a Special Education Floating Paraprofessional at New Story Schools In-District Services (IDS), you will work alongside teachers and school teams to support students' academic, behavioral, and daily living goals across multiple school districts. In this flexible, high-impact role, you will provide coverage and direct student support where needed, helping ensure continuity of services and a positive learning experience for students. You'll play a vital role in helping each student succeed through patience, consistency, and encouragement.
What You'll Need
High school diploma or equivalent
At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities
Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations
Ability and willingness to travel between assigned school districts and school locations as needed
Flexibility to adapt to different classroom environments, student needs, and educational teams
What You'll Do
Provide paraprofessional support across multiple school districts and classroom settings based on staffing and student needs
Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals
Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance
Assist students with transitions, classroom activities, and personal care as needed
Collect and record behavioral and progress data
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to ensure consistent student support
Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
Serve as a reliable resource for schools requiring temporary or supplemental student support
