Job Summary

The Instructional Aide role sits within the Diverse Learners Team at New School San Francisco and is managed by our Director of Inclusion. The IA role is designed to provide flexible support and instruction to teachers and students across grade levels and the three tiers of support, with a focus on students with IEPs. Responding to student needs in line with our school’s vision for diverse learners requires flexibility and collaboration; this role will assist with a variety of priorities including but not limited to Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) delivery, Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) delivery, data tracking, and compensatory minutes. Schedules and instructional supports will be outlined by the Director of Inclusion and/or Learning Specialists.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum of an AA degree or higher • Experience working with specialized populations with behavioral needs. • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions, read, write, and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the duties to be performed for the position described. • Knowledge of English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary and student recreational activities. • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form. • Ability to work independently and operate electronic educational devices: computer, tablet, etc. • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, teachers, co- workers and parents. • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and have grace under pressure. • Must successfully complete necessary intervention training determined supervisor within six months of hire and maintain annual recertification. • Possess and maintain current certification of CPR and First Aid training. • Physically able to complete non-violent crisis interventions, if needed
