Position Summary
New River Electrical is looking for a qualified Truck Driver (Transportation Specialist) skilled in transportation. As the Truck Driver, you will support the Fleet & Facilities function. Working in a field environment on the road you will load, deliver, and recover equipment, materials, and tools from various locations (rural, urban and suburban) in compliance with DOT regulations. You will also need to troubleshoot and identify issues with your vehicle partnering with the Road Mechanic team as needed. This role reports to the Shop Foreman.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Using company trucks, ensure on time and safe delivery and recovery of company equipment, tools and materials to various locations.
- Perform thorough diagnostics on vehicles to identify issues accurately in partnership with the Road Mechanic team.
- Execute basic repairs and maintenance on various automotive systems as needed.
- Load a variety of equipment on trailers in compliance with DOT specifications.
- Maintain accurate CDL logs and record keeping reporting issues as needed to the Shop Foreman.
- Troubleshoot and make minor repairs to equipment onsite.
- Ensure compliance with all State and Local Transportation laws.
- Accurate electronic time sheet submission including the submission of weekly expenses.
- Perform equipment reporting and repair orders.
- Other task as requested by Shop Foreman.
- Travel for this position is at 100%.
Qualifications
- H.S or Technical School degree plus hands on experience in transportation.
- Ability to perform basic components of automotive repair and proactive maintenance.
- Must have a class A CDL and Medical Certificate and be mentally and physically fit to operate a Class A Vehicle.
- Must up to date and knowledgeable with regulation and compliance of DOT.
- Must have the ability to work indoor and outdoor in various elements and weather conditions.
- Must have knowledge of a variety of equipment and loading specifications.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License, Medical Card, and prefer a Class B or A CDL.
- Demonstrated competency in developing and maintaining internal team relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
