Salary: $1,926.00 per classJob SummaryThe primary duties for the successful candidate will be teaching a full range of English courses, including Composition I, Research, Technical Writing, and Literature for New River Community and Technical College.Adjunct faculty members serve multiple roles as teachers, mentors, colleagues, and scholars. Adjunct faculty are expected to excel in classroom instruction and to fulfill various responsibilities related to their assigned teaching duties.Nature of WorkProvide lecture and enhanced writing lab education through synchronous and asynchronous distance learning.Distinguishing CharacteristicsPerforms other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and Standards.Summary of Core Responsibilities:Possess thorough and accurate knowledge in field/discipline of EnglishDemonstrate ability to relate and work effectively with students, peers and the public.Commit to the mission and objectives of New River Community and Technical College.Meet the academic demands of the program.Be available to teach afternoon and evening coursesBe accessible and responsive to students through e-mail, phone, or scheduled office hours or at other times.Design courses in D2L BrightspaceMeet classes as scheduled.Evaluate student work and maintain accurate records of students academic standing.Provide students with constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback in a timely manner.Evaluate student performance weekly, at mid-term and at the end of the semester using the appropriate course evaluation tool.
