New River Community and Technical College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Adjunct Faculty member in Phlebotomy to help prepare students for entry-level careers in the healthcare field. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of phlebotomists.
Position Overview
The Adjunct Faculty member will provide didactic and hands-on laboratory instruction in Principles of Phlebotomy. Courses are delivered at the Greenbrier Valley and Nicholas County Campus and may include in-person, online, Zoom, or Interactive
Adjunct faculty play a vital role as educators, mentors, and collaborators, contributing to student success and workforce readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction in phlebotomy
- Teach venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques effectively
- Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth
- Coordinate clinical rotations with program leadership and healthcare partners
- Ensure compliance with college policies and safety standards
- Utilize technology to support in-person and virtual learning environments
- Maintain regular communication with students and faculty
- Participate in department meetings and required college activities
- Complete course assessments and reporting requirements on time
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Current national certification in one of the following:
- Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Science/Technology
- Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN
- Associate’s degree (or higher) in an allied health or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience performing venipuncture and capillary puncture
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in higher education
- Experience with Zoom, IVN, or online instruction
- Familiarity with instructional technology (e.g., Microsoft Word, learning platforms)
- Experience with dual enrollment programs
