New River Community and Technical College is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Adjunct Biology Instructor to teach a range of courses including Anatomy & Physiology, Introduction to Biology, Microbiology, and other health-related subjects. Position Summary
The Adjunct Faculty member will provide high-quality classroom and laboratory instruction in both in-person and online formats. This role is essential in preparing students for careers in healthcare and related fields by building a strong foundation in biological sciences.
Adjunct faculty serve as educators, mentors, and collaborators, supporting students both academically and professionally.
What Youll Do
- Teach biology courses with an emphasis in Anatomy & Physiology
- Deliver engaging instruction in classroom, lab, and virtual environments (Zoom, IVN, online)
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth
- Supervise and guide student learning in lab settings
- Use instructional technology to enhance learning experiences
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and department leadership
- Participate in department meetings and college activities
- Complete course assessments and reporting requirements on time
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters degree in Biology or closely related field
- Must include at least 18 graduate credit hours in Biology
- Strong knowledge in Anatomy & Physiology
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in higher education
- Experience with online or distance learning platforms (Zoom, IVN, etc.)
- Proficiency with instructional technology and software tools
- Experience teaching dual enrollment courses
- Background in an allied health field
