What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietary Asst/Aid position at New Richland Care Center?
Assists in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, regulations and NRCC established dietary policies and procedures to meet each residents care plan and specific dietary requirements/needs and wishes. Must possess patience, tact, cheerful disposition, ability to create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility, must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position relating to and working with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times hostile people within the facility, must be able to follow oral and written instructions, must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner and be a minimum of 16 years of age, possessing a 10th grade education. Work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary.
Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance, on a timely basis, according to established portion control procedures and make only authorized food substitutions. Assist in daily/scheduled cleaning duties, maintaining food storage areas are clean and properly arranged at all times, report all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Director, dispose of food and waste in accordance w/established policies. Wear protective clothing/equipment, assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food and supplies, assist in food preparation for special meals and parties. Will be crossed trained for other positions at Directors discretion.
Education & Physical Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices): required to attend all educational meetings provided and complete all mandatory in-services in a timely fashion, training will be provided for any new procedures or policies. You may be exposed to heat/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage area, me be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, ect.., including exposure to AIDS and Hepatitis B Virus, activity tasks assigned to this position do not involve contact with blood/body fluids; but could result in performing tasks which may involve exposure to blood/body fluids, if position is modified to include tasks that could result in exposure to blood/body fluids, you will be offered free of charge the Hepatitis B vaccination. This position includes bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, squatting, kneeling, climbing heights with the use of a step stool and/or ladder, lifting up to 25 lbs., standing for long periods of time, walking and a good sense of balance, use of hands for repetitive action of both hands, simple and firm grasping, possessing sight/hearing senses or use prosthetic s that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Ability to work around moving machinery.
