What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse position at New Pointe Treatment Center?
POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
The dispensing nurse dispenses under the orders of the Medical Director or staff physician. This position’s primary focus is on methadone treatment services. The dispensing nurse is responsible for administering the proper dose of methadone to each patient as prescribed by the Medical Director or Staff Physician, working under their orders and per protocol established by them. The dispensing nurse must ensure accountability in medication reconciliation at the end of each shift worked.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Assists in the screening of patients (vital signs, assists in registration / intake processes);
-Keeps in close contact with counselors regarding interaction with patients;
-Participate in assessments, draw blood, and assist in collecting samples for testing.
-Administer other tests and/or medications as per physician’s orders.
-Running necessary reports at the end of the shift; conducts accurate inventory counts at start and end of shift.
-Dosing nurse may be called on to make emergency medical assessments regarding an unstable client.
-May be called on to assist staff physician during intake process.
-May be called on to provide reporting and statistical data for Program Director.
-Nurse maintains clear, accurate, and timely dispensing logs.
-Dosing nurse must communicate clearly and cooperatively with all staff members and patients.
-Must maintain sanitary work site, properly disposing of potentially infectious waste materials, as well as properly disposing of methadone dosing containers to assists in maintaining patient confidentiality.
-Dosing nurse may participate in observation and routing of urinalysis specimens,
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Training Requirements):
-Current valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
-A general knowledge of and ability to apply nursing care and general procedures.
-Establish effective communication with patients and co-workers
-Must keep appropriate records.
-Perform blood draws.
-Ability to work cooperatively with program administrators, physicians and counselors.

- Monday-Friday 5:30AM-12:30PM
