Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments to evaluate mental health status and physiological factors influencing mental well-being.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with federal and state regulations, including controlled substances under DEA guidelines.
- Develop personalized treatment plans integrating psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and other evidence-based interventions.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) system Valant to document clinical encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Provide patient education on medication management, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies to promote ongoing recovery.
- Participate in case management activities including discharge planning, utilization review, and follow-up care coordination for diverse populations such as those in assisted living or hospice settings.
Experience
- Proven experience working with behavioral health patients across various environments including outpatient practice, hospitals, or community health settings.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote patient assessments and follow-up care delivery.
- Knowledge of medical documentation standards including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding systems for diagnosis classification, and HIPAA compliance for patient privacy.
- Experience working with children or geriatric populations is highly desirable; familiarity with dementia care or memory support is a plus.
- Strong understanding of physiology related to mental health conditions, medication administration protocols, and pharmacology principles such as psychopharmacology treatments.
- Ability to perform physical assessments including vital signs measurement, specimen collection/processing, venipuncture, and basic life support procedures.
