What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Modeler position at New Page Management?
As a Draftsperson at American Industrial Contractors your responsibility is to produce drawings and ensure that projects are detailed so that the Project Managers and construction team can read them with ease and understanding. You should be comfortable with engaging with customers, engineers, and architects when required to resolve issues relating to contract drawings.
Your Responsibilities:
- Create construction drawings from contract documents (structural, architectural, civil)
- Engage with the customer, engineer, or architect to resolve any issues relating to a drawing or model.
- Ensure drawings are approved and communicated to the appropriate person and that all work is completed in a timely manner and with the level of accuracy expected.
- Ensure that revisions to plans are reviewed and any changes are incorporated in the drawings, and that project managers are kept informed of any changes that are requested during the drafting process, providing the relevant information to price change orders.
- Be the internal resource for questions relating to field drawings for all projects that have been allocated to you, while working closely with Shop and Field Construction Managers to ensure any special requirements for the project are communicated appropriately.
Additional Duties:
- Ability to create and develop drawings as requested.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and ability to manage priorities for projects.
- Assist, when necessary, with field measuring & field checking of drawings.
- Improve on existing designs to create a safer and more efficient finished product.
- Demonstrate timely completion of drawings per the job schedule.
- Maintain & follow company standards to ensure continuity from one job to the next.
- Develop the technical ability to create models which have a medium degree of complexity.
- Generate a minimal number of errors.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have a passion for drafting / modeling
- Drafting or modeling certificate of completion preferred, or at least 3 years of experience as a Draftsperson in construction or HVAC.
- Ability / willingness to work towards any required state certifications to perform essential functions.
- Experience and ability to work in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
