What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support & Field Technician – New Orleans position at New Orleans Integrated Technologies?
New Orleans Integrated Technologies is looking for an IT Support & Field Technician to join our team.
We are a New Orleans-based technology company supporting businesses throughout the Greater New Orleans area. This is not a call-center or strictly help-desk position. Our technicians work directly with clients, both remotely and onsite, solving real-world technology problems and helping implement new solutions.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, can communicate well with clients, and isn’t afraid to get out from behind a desk and work hands-on.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Providing remote and onsite technical support to business clients
• Troubleshooting Windows desktops and laptops
• Supporting Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive and related applications
• Setting up and troubleshooting user accounts, computers, printers and peripherals
• Troubleshooting wired and wireless networks
• Installing and supporting switches, firewalls and Wi-Fi access points
• Working with Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory and user permissions
• Diagnosing Internet, DNS, DHCP and general connectivity problems
• Assisting with Microsoft 365 migrations and workstation deployments
• Supporting VoIP phone systems
• Working with network security and endpoint protection products
• Installing and replacing technology equipment at client locations
• Documenting work, updating tickets and recording time accurately
• Communicating directly with clients and following issues through to resolution
Our environment includes technologies such as Microsoft 365, Windows, Entra ID, SonicWall, Ruckus, Ubiquiti/UniFi, Windows Server, and a variety of cloud, networking and security platforms.
You don’t need to know every product we use. We are much more interested in someone who has a strong technical foundation, knows how to troubleshoot, is willing to learn, and takes ownership of a problem until it’s solved.
What We’re Looking For
• Previous IT support, MSP, help desk or field technician experience
• Solid Windows and Microsoft 365 troubleshooting skills
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and networking
• Ability to troubleshoot problems logically rather than simply follow a script
• Comfortable working directly with business owners and end users
• Professional communication and customer-service skills
• Organized and able to properly document work
• Ability to work independently as well as with the rest of our technical team
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for visiting client locations
Experience with ConnectWise, SonicWall, Ruckus, UniFi, VoIP systems, Microsoft Entra ID, endpoint security or MSP environments is a plus.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is dependable, curious and willing to learn. Technology changes constantly, and we don’t expect anyone to know everything. We do expect our technicians to be willing to dig into a problem, ask questions when necessary and see it through.
This is a full-time, New Orleans-area position with a combination of office, remote-support and onsite client work.
If you’re the person friends and coworkers call when something isn’t working—and you actually enjoy figuring out why—we’d like to hear from you.
