New Orleans Country Club is looking for a Controller to join the team.
Established in 1914, New Orleans Country Club is a full-service, private country club offering golf, tennis, fitness, food and beverage (a la carte dining and banquets) and swimming to our members and their guests.
Job Summary : Responsible for the development and operation of an effective system of accounting, budgetary, financial, asset and production controls relating to all Club activities. Responsible for advising and making recommendations to the General Manager concerning financial and control aspects of the Club. Aids in the determination and achievement of overall objectives, policies and plans.

Supervises : Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Accounting Clerks, Switchboard Operator
Job Responsibilities
- Supervises all accounting and financial records for the Club's operation.
- Verifies that all insurance records on all Club property are maintained.
- Oversees operation of downstairs’ switchboard.
- Oversees hiring, instruction, disciplining and discharging of accounting employees, and accounting switchboard operator.
- Acts as financial controller for Club special events.
- Develop and implement accounting procedures for the Club, as needed.
- Provides information to the General Manager on the financial condition of the Club and its various departments.
- Analyzes Club records at periodic intervals to determine adherence to financial controls.
- Prepares or supervises preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns. Prepares and supervises the preparation and verification to any reports made to agencies, trade or professional organizations whose dissemination is consistent with Club policies.
- Directs and verifies various inventories in the Club such as beverage, food, and supplies.
- Reviews accounting, budgeting, statistical reporting, and record-keeping activities throughout the Club and makes recommendations as needed.
- Analyzes and present department variations between budgeted performance and actual results in operating accounts and suggests possible corrective actions to all department heads.
- Prepares a full report of the year's financial operations for presentation at the Club's annual meeting.
- Orders and approves accounting office supplies, as necessary.
- Consults with General Manager on all Maintenance Contracts.
- Approves other Country Club billings and payouts.
- Reports to General Manager on any important issues.
- Prepares monthly golfers' recap.
- Prepares monthly sales tax returns and ensures prompt payment.
- Closes books for the month and prepares financial statements.
- Prepares monthly schedules including capital account activity, accounts receivable aging, and banquet vs. restaurant revenue.
- Oversees the preparation of operating and petty cash bank reconciliations.
- Prepares the biweekly payroll for transmission to 3rd party provider.
- Prepares the payroll account and all special account bank reconciliations.
- Prepares bi-weekly payroll transfers.
- Issues all W-2, 1099-MISC, 1095 and all fringe benefit statements for the Club.
- Administers and sets up ACH/auto-pay for members and remits monthly ACH file/payment to the bank.
- Compile payroll information for reporting and payment to the Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) into the self-insurer’s fund.
- Gathers lessons/clinics information for the Club professionals to be used in preparing the bi-weekly payroll
- Prepares annual census forms for retirement plans.
- Prepares garnishment and 401(k) remittances for each payroll.
- Prepares monthly settlement reports for all Club professionals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in the areas of Accounting, Business, or Finance required. Concentration in Accounting, Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA); Certified Public Account (CPA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of Excel preferred.
- Strong budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- The Controller must be an effective leader, an extremely well organized, take-charge professional who makes things happen, and who has a strong orientation to quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
