Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed trucks and tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load, secure, and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper cargo safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous substances.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes, plan deliveries efficiently, and adapt to changing conditions for timely arrivals.
- Transport a variety of freight including , pipe loads,tanker loads, , or other specialized cargo requiring careful handling.
- Perform pre-trip inspections and routine maintenance checks on trucks to ensure safety and compliance standards are met before each journey.
- Load and unload freight accurately, managing logistics cargo handling while maintaining truck loading and unloading safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and inspection reports in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on flatbed or tractor-trailer operations.
- Strong knowledge of route driving, load & unload procedures, and logistics cargo handling techniques.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments..
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently while adhering to safety standards.
- Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation), FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck driving.
- Excellent manual handling skills for loading/unloading cargo safely and efficiently.
