Advertising Summary: NMSU Grants was established as a branch of New Mexico State University in 1968 through the cooperative efforts of New Mexico State University and Grants Municipal Schools. As a two-year branch community college, NMSU Grants serves the local communities in Cibola and McKinley counties, including the Pueblos of Acoma, Laguna, and Zuni, as well as Tohajiilee, San Mateo, San Rafael, Cubero, the City of Grants, and the Village of Milan.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
  • Teach Early Childhood Education and Teaching Pathways courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats, using effective instructional practices that support student learning and success.
  • Develop, implement, and assess engaging learning experiences that promote achievement of course and program learning outcomes.
  • Utilize diverse teaching strategies, instructional technologies, and assessment methods to meet the needs of varied learners and foster critical thinking.
  • Advise, mentor, and support students through academic planning, regular office hours, timely feedback, and referrals to appropriate campus resources.
  • Contribute to program development through curriculum design, textbook selection, course revisions, and the creation of specialty offerings, including dual credit, accelerated, and non-credit courses.
  • Participate in college governance, committee work, accreditation activities, and other institutional service responsibilities consistent with faculty expectations.
  • Represent and promote the Education Program through collaboration with K–12 partners, community organizations, and NMSU system-wide and statewide initiatives.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and perform other duties as assigned to support the mission, goals, and continuous improvement of the college.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the US K-12 Educational System and local/national certification and credentialing policies and processes.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and student population.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in LMS management as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Education or Early Childhood from a regionally accredited institution, or
Master's degree in another discipline from a regionally-accredited institution and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Education, Early Childhood, or Educational Psychology.
Three years of full-time teaching experience at any level.

Equivalent Qualifications:


Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to teach in at least two areas of Education, Early Childhood Education, or Educational Psychology.
Experience teaching at the community college level.
Experience teaching in the Pre-k-12 environment.
Level 3 New Mexico Teaching License
A minimum of 18 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education.
Experience teaching online using CANVAS learning management systems or similar LMS.
Experience working with students from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Environment: Work is normally performed indoors.

Physical Effort: Light physical effort. Effort applies to no more than two (2) hours per day.

Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.

Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
