About New Mexico Military Institute:The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported, co-educational institution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels. With a student body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides a comprehensive academic experience complemented by Junior and Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for higher education. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA delivers a distinctive curriculum emphasizing immersive, intensive, hands-on learning in a structured environment.
Position Under the supervision of the Comptroller, the Payroll Analyst receives and processes payroll information, invoices miscellaneous charges, provides financial data to cadets and/or their parents, and is tasked with maintaining accurate records. This is a non-exempt, 12-month, full-time position. The salary ranges between $48,000.00 to $55,000.00, depending on qualifications. The job description is available upon request.
Tasks:
· Receive, process, and perform payroll functions, such as data entry, balancing and reconciling, prepare accounts payable items, maintain different areas of employee information, and perform extensive federal and state reporting.
· Maintain close communication with Human Resources Staff on personnel matters.
· Responsible for privileged and extremely confidential information and records. Proper and restricted use of this information is imperative.
· Serve as one of six financial advisors and assist cadets and/or parents regarding their accounts.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
· Knowledge of the principles and methods of accounting and payroll.
· Knowledge of NMMI Policies and Procedures, State Statutes, IRS regulations, and Federal Laws as they pertain to payroll.
· Ability to obtain knowledge of the processing requirements at NMMI.
· Ability to obtain knowledge of various cadet accounts.
· Skill in developing and maintaining manual and automated filing systems.
· Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with employees and cadets.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma with equivalent experience in a related field.
· Three (3) years of payroll experience.
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
· Four (4) or more years of payroll experience
· Bilingual.
