About New Mexico Military Institute:The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported, co-educational institution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels. With a student body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides comprehensive academic experience complemented by Junior and Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for higher education. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA delivers a distinctive curriculum that emphasizes immersive, intensive, and hands-on learning in a structured environment.
Position Under the supervision of the Deputy Commandant of Support, the Mailroom supervisor prepares outgoing mail and provides on-campus mail service for delivering and sending mail, packages, and other goods. The salary rate is $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 annually. The job description is available upon request.
Tasks:
· Receive incoming mail and packages from delivery services; sort mail and packages for the cadets and departments; process all outgoing mail for departments; assist cadets in the proper manner of mailing letters and parcels; maintain records of department charges; develop and update the Post Office Operations and Procedures manual.
· Place mail and other items addressed to individual cadets, including staffers, statements, etc. Take a mail run to the headquarters building periodically through the day; maintain an open window policy to enable cadets to receive their mail during their off-school time; sell stamps, supplies, and packing materials to cadets, staff, and faculty; assist cadets in boxing packages for shipment.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
· Knowledge of the U.S. Post Office rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
· Knowledge of the various freight delivery and package mailing services.
· Knowledge of U.S. Post Office domestic and international manuals.
· Skill in interacting with youth and young adults.
· Skill in maintaining and balancing cash registers and mail accounts.
· Skill in understanding and implementing new programs.
· Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
· Basic English language and writing skills sufficient to process payment if required, count, and follow oral and written instructions.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited community college, college, or university with a major in business or public administration.
· Two (2) years of experience in a mailroom environment.
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Bilingual.
