Get to Know Your Team:
The New Mexico Heart Institute at Lovelace Medical Center. New Mexico Heart Institute is a hospital out-patient department providing comprehensive cardiovascular care.
Responsibilities
- Responsible and accountable for the practice of Professional Nursing, including the nursing management of the patient and staff of assigned area in his/her charge.
- Manages efficient patient flow, appropriate use of supplies and other operational functions.
- Collaborates with the unit managers and/or directors in developing and revising unit policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Serves as departmental liaison and first line of contact with patients, providers and staff.
- Adheres to policies and procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
- Justification: RN charge nurse supervises RN triage, surgical and wound care RN teams.
- RN Charge actively participates in the hands-on work required for the team`s daily operations, including triage calls, patient visits, post procedure calls, and overall patient care.
- Responsible for daily assignments, delegation of tasks, productivity oversight, NMHI pharmacy compliance, and staff education.
- The RN charge works closely with physicians, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Minimum: Associate’s Degree or Diploma of Nursing
- One (1) year of Charge Nurse experience in hospital setting OR more than one year of clinical or management experience.
- CPR
- Valid NM Nursing license or NM compact license (within 90 days of hire)
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Desired: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Certification in clinical specialty
- National Certification in specialty care
