Why does the job exist?
Provide integrated and structured classroom and group psychosocial type classes and activities that include but are not limited to the following skills: Coping, Interpersonal, Communication, Problem Solving, Cognitive, Performance and Leisure to patients assigned to the Adult Psychiatric Division and Center for Adolescent Relationship Exploration units. These classes/activities are intended to help patients learn/recall and utilize these skills to help them more fully integrate into the community of their choice.
How does it get done?
Instruct or facilitate psychosocial type classes/activities in a classroom/group type setting to various patients assigned to the Adult Psychiatric Division and/or Center for Adolescent Relationship Exploration unit

Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with a diverse population who suffer from a mental illness;
Experience creating curriculum and/or researching materials to provide structured classroom setting instruction;
Experience facilitating classes/activities in a structured environment and group setting;
Experience working with a treatment team in a hospital setting;
Experience with basic computer use.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
This position will perform work in a hospital setting. The areas of the hospital include but are not limited to, classroom, library, gymnasium, outdoors, patient wards. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors, creating volatile situations. The facility is a 100% tobacco / e-cigarette free campus. NO tobacco products of any kind are permitted on any part of the campus.
