The Center for Access and Linkage to Health Care (CALHC) in the Public Health Division provides a range of public health services in Public Health Offices (PHO) and mobile clinics across the state within five regional public health areas.
Public Health Nurses across the center support and deliver various public health programs and clinical services such as communicable disease investigation and response, tuberculosis, STD screening and treatment, immunizations, and family planning, through advocacy, adherence to clinical protocols, standing orders and policies and procedures.
Why does the job exist?
This is one of seven Senior Healthcare Program Coordinator positions created for the Mobile Public Health team. These positions work as Medical Assistants on the mobile public health units and assist with the same services in Public Health Offices (PHO) when the units are not in operation. This position will serve as the primary driver and scheduler for the mobile unit and will provide support for primary public health services performed on board by physicians, other clinicians, nurses, Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) and other public health team members.

Persons who are not stably housed and other community members who are disproportionately impacted by health conditions whose access to public health services can be improved using mobile health units.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum Qualification
Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Finance, or a related field and two (2) years of experience with a public assistance program, medical, healthcare, educational, or state facility working with policies and procedures, conducting analysis/research, providing or requesting information from the general public, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage.

How does it get done?
- Coordinate logistics for the mobile units including serving as the primary driver, working with regional staff on all maintenance issues to keep the unit ready for operations, and assisting with scheduling in coordination with internal and external partners.
- Provide clinical support for priority public health services conducted on the unit including taking vitals for patients, doing phlebotomy, coordinating clinical supplies within the scope of duties for this role, and following clinical protocols. Operate under orders given by physicians and other clinicians.
- Provide support for public health services such as stocking units, cleaning and preparing exam room and blood draw areas, maintaining records of outreach activities, assisting patients with navigation and scheduling of follow up services, and other roles appropriate to this classification. Report on outreach events using the approved data collection system

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience leading public health interventions for communicable disease or other priority areas of public health
- Experience providing public health interventions and health services in non-traditional settings including community venues and mobile health services
- At least three years working in a medical clinical setting
- Be able to adapt to change
- Familiarity with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
