Why does the job exist?
This position exists to support residents' physical and psychosocial well-being through personalized restorative and rehabilitative care. The Restorative Nursing Aide plays a vital role in helping residents regain or maintain their functional abilities, promote independence, and prevent decline in mobility or health. By implementing individualized therapy interventions, assisting with exercises, and supporting safety during activities, this role contributes to improving residents¿ quality of life, ensuring safety, and promoting their overall health outcomes within the facility.
How does it get done?
Follow individualized Restorative Care Plans, providing interventions such as ambulation, gait training, transfer assistance, and range-of-motion exercises. Use and instruct residents on various exercise equipment, such as pulleys, standing machines, and adaptive utensils. Assist with functional activities, including dressing, ADL support, and the use of supportive devices. Supervise and facilitate participation in therapy activities, motivating residents and ensuring safety during interventions. Attend to resident needs, including offering fluids, assisting with dining, and engaging in positive interactions to promote dignity and participation. Enter and supervise the hot mineral pool at least twice weekly, ensuring safety protocols and adherence to pool regulations. Assist during pool therapy sessions, including supervision, safety, and documentation. Maintain pool area safety, equipment cleanliness, and accurate attendance and log records. Provide direct personal care, including ADLs, transfers, mobility assistance, and support with supportive devices. Assist residents with dressing, undressing, and use of braces, slings, and other support equipment. Offer compassionate, respectful care that upholds resident dignity, privacy, and rights. Respond promptly to resident requests, complaints, or emergencies, following safety and infection control protocols. Document all restorative, therapeutic, and personal care activities daily in the facility¿s system. Report changes in resident conditions, refusals, or incidents immediately to supervising RN. Maintain compliance with facility policies, CMS regulations, and state licensing requirements. Participate in training, continuing education, QA audits, and performance improvement initiatives. Follow all safety protocols, including fall prevention, body mechanics, PPE use, and equipment disinfection. Support therapy staff with equipment setup, minor repairs, and maintenance of therapy and pool equipment. Assist with administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, preparing logs, and managing treatment supplies. Support other activities or duties as assigned to promote resident safety and operational efficiency.

The primary customer are the brave men and women that answered our nations call, executed their duties and now are unable to live in their respective communities due to failing health. This job will also support the widows of the service men and women to include parents that have lost children in combat (Gold Star Parents)
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a compassionate, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to improving residents¿ physical and mental health. They should have experience or knowledge of restorative care principles, therapy interventions, and safety protocols. The candidate must be physically capable of assisting with transfers, mobility, and exercises, and comfortable working with residents with diverse needs, including those with mobility impairments, chronic conditions, or cognitive challenges such as dementia. Good observational and documentation skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Prior experience in restorative care, nursing assistance, or therapy support is preferred, but a caring attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic are most important.
Minimum Qualification
Certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Home Health Aide (HHA), or Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) and one (1) year of experience providing basic dietary, housekeeping, and/or laundry services in a traditional long term care facility and/or as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above certification requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

Employment is subject to criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act, (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results.
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Must possess and maintain a valid Safe Food Handling Certificate or receive within 1 week of date of hire.
Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.
Must sign and observe confidentiality agreement.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
Occasional travel for training & meetings and driving a State of NM owned motor vehicle may be required; Working hours may include weekends, holidays, overtime, and callback hours.
