Public Health is a Division of the New Mexico Department of Health. The Southeast Region Public Health Division consists of 8 counties with 10 public health offices. Each office houses diverse staff members offering services promoting healthy behaviors to have a better quality of life.
Why does the job exist?
This part-time position provides MOUD (Medication for Opioid Use Disorder) services to clients who have experienced opiate use disorder. This position will be working in support of public health staff to provide these services and to promote the MOUD program. The services and be provided through a telehealth system and/or in person via the public health office.
How does it get done?
Mostly through face-to-face interaction through appointments made. There could be a possibility of telehealth playing a role in providing this service. Assessments and screening will aid in assisting the clients through the MOUD program as well as providing client education and counseling pertaining to the condition. Moderate travel may be necessary.
Who are the customers?
Public Health, community members in multiple counties.
Ideal Candidate
Have a background in public health; experience working with community partners; and understanding of health systems and their functioning.
Minimum Qualification
Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New Mexico Department of Health.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Licensed as a Certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), or as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New Mexico Department of Health.
