Target Pay Range/Rate: $134,921.28-$161,905.12 annually
The Ninth Judicial District Court is recruiting for a full-time, at-will, Domestic Relations Hearing Officer position #00027927-23900 in Clovis, New Mexico. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position is under the supervision of the presiding Chief District Judge. The successful candidate will be assigned caseloads to include child support matters, domestic violence, and domestic relations, consistent with Rule 1-053.2. This position is located at the Clovis/Portales District Court. Finalist(s) will be subject to criminal background checks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The following functions are representative of the work environment and physical demands an employee may expect to encounter in performing tasks assigned to this job. Work is performed in an office or court setting. The employee is expected to be punctual and to adhere to the assigned work schedule. Work is performed in an often fast-paced and stressful work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy. The employee may be exposed to hostile or violent situations that may arise when dealing with individuals involved or associated with court cases, disturbing or hazardous court exhibits, and contagious health conditions. The employee must regularly interact positively with co-workers, supervisors, managers, judges, and the public; work under severe time constraints and meet multiple demands from several people. The work requires prolonged use of computers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform repetitive hand, arm, and finger motions as well as use manual/finger dexterity, sit for long periods of time, stand and walk often, kneel and stoop, and talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move, push, pull, or carry up to 40 pounds. Overtime may be required. Travel may be required. A valid driver’s license may be required. The employee may be exposed to fluctuating outdoor and building temperatures.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, New Mexico licensed attorney in good standing.
- Education Substitution: None.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the practice of law with at least 20% of said practice having been in family law or domestic relations matters.
- Experience Substitution: None.
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of New Mexico and federal statutes, case law, court rules, policies, and procedures; ability to conduct independent legal research and prepare concise legal pleadings and memoranda.
- Other: The ability to establish effective working relationships with judges, the legal community, and staff; communicate complex rules clearly and concisely to practitioners and self-represented litigants; respond with tact and courtesy both orally and in writing. Must be able to demonstrate a work record of dependability and reliability, attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and effective organizational skills, and the ability to complete a post-offer background investigation may be required.
