Overview
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct care and supervision for adolescent and adult patients in acute settings, assisting with treatment goals, behavior management, and daily living activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support patients in a safe and structured environment
- Conduct patient orientation upon admission
- Promote a recovery-based approach with respect and empowerment
- Facilitate living skills & recreational activities
- Document patient progress in electronic health records (EHR)
- Perform room checks & property searches to maintain safety
- Monitor sleep patterns & report concerns
- Assist in crisis intervention when needed
- Maintain unit cleanliness & compliance with policies
- Attend meetings & complete required training
Qualifications
- 2 years of behavioral health experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 with NM Fingerprint Clearance & background check
- Strong communication & teamwork skills
- Negative TB test required or chest X-ray
