Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role as a Trial Attorney with the New Mexico Association of Counties, based in Albuquerque, NM, with the flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. The Trial Attorney will handle litigation matters involving counties, including preparing and filing motions, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court proceedings and trials. The role also involves providing legal advice and working collaboratively with county officials and other attorneys to manage cases effectively.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in legal principles and practices, with a focus on litigation and trial experience
- Expertise in drafting and filing motions and legal documents
- Familiarity with court procedures and experience representing clients in courtroom settings
- Proven ability to conduct depositions and other pre-trial processes effectively
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Jurisdictional knowledge of New Mexico law is preferred
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and membership in the New Mexico State Bar
- Proven experience relevant to public or local government legal matters is a plus
