Gunster seeks a full-time Research Analyst for its West Palm Beach office. This position serves as the firm's primary resource for legal, business, competitive intelligence, and investigative research, supporting attorneys and business professionals across all practice groups. Working under the direction of the Director of Knowledge Management, the role handles routine and complex research requests, conducts background and litigation analysis, monitors legal and business developments, and supports the firm's knowledge management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal, legislative, regulatory, business, and factual research across a variety of jurisdictions and industries.
  • Perform in-depth background, news, litigation, and investigative research on individuals, companies, experts, witnesses, and organizations.
  • Analyze court filings, dockets, public records, corporate records, SEC filings, and regulatory materials.
  • Prepare concise research reports, summaries, profiles, timelines, and intelligence briefings for attorneys and firm leadership.
  • Verify citations, sources, and supporting authority for publications, presentations, and client-facing materials.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence, market research, prospective client research, and industry analysis to support business development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain litigation, legislative, regulatory, company, and industry monitoring alerts.
  • Advise attorneys on research strategies, tools, and available resources.
  • Assist with training, process documentation, and the collection of research findings for inclusion in firm knowledge resources.
  • Support additional departmental and firm objectives as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MLIS, JD, or related advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of research, legal research, business intelligence, or investigative research experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with legal and business research platforms, including Westlaw, Lexis, Practical Law, and similar research tools.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable work product.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with research technologies, knowledge management systems, and AI-assisted research tools preferred
