Advanced Practice Nurse (Ketamine and Vitamin Infusion Specialist)
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our team at New Life Wellness as a Ketamine and Vitamin Infusion Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Specialist.
This role involves administering IV vitamin infusions, administering IV/IM ketamine infusions, overseeing the handing of patients nasal ketamine to administer themselves, administering transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and any additional services that we determine together are a good addition to the practice, under the supervision of New Life Wellness’ medical director.
The APRN will play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal treatment outcomes in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
This is a part-time independent contractor position with flexible scheduling (AM vs PM shifts).
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Maintain proficiency in IV insertion, infusion management, and emergency response relevant to ketamine and infusion therapy.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including assessments, medications, responses, and follow-up plans.
- Participate in the development and refinement of clinical protocols, safety checklists, and quality improvement initiatives for ketamine and infusion services.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, HIPAA, infection control standards, and medication safety requirements
- Maintain a calm, low-stimulus, and therapeutic environment aligned with the goals of ketamine-assisted treatment.
- Adhere to all nursing scope-of-practice standards and clinical protocols
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with the medical director and multidisciplinary team (therapists and support staff) to coordinate holistic care.
- Communicate effectively with referring providers regarding patient progress and treatment recommendations when appropriate.
- Educate patients on what to expect before, during, and after ketamine treatments
- Provide empathetic support to patients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, suicidality, and other mental health or functional concerns.
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and training related to ketamine, TMS, and advanced wellness services.
Controlled Substance Compliance & Medication Management
- Administer IV ketamine in strict compliance with Ohio Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and applicable state and federal regulations governing controlled substances
- Ensure accurate documentation of ketamine preparation, administration, wastage, inventory, and reconciliation per clinic policy
- Maintain secure handling, storage, and disposal of controlled substances in accordance with regulatory standards
- Participate in medication audits, inventory checks, and compliance reviews as required
- Immediately report discrepancies, adverse events, or compliance concerns to the Medical Director and clinic leadership
Required Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted APRN license in the state of Ohio (e.g., FNP, CNP, CNS, CNM, CRNA as applicable to role and scope).
- Current national board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g. Trauma, Family, Adult-Gerontology, Acute Care, Psychiatric-Mental Health (must also be a FNP)).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an APRN; experience in psychiatry, pain management, anesthesia, emergency, or infusion medicine preferred.
- Proficiency in IV insertion and management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, trauma-informed care, and high-quality documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ketamine therapy, psychedelic-informed care, or other infusion-based treatments.
- Experience working with patients with treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, anxiety disorders, chronic pain, or suicidality.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Prior experience in outpatient mental health, integrated wellness, or interventional psychiatry settings.
