Thrift Store Sales Associate (Part Time)

At New Life Furniture Bank, we believe that a furnished home creates dignity, stability, and hope. Our mission is to provide gently used furniture and household items to families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, and other difficult circumstances. Since 2006, New Life has furnished more than 17,500 homes across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

POSITION DETAILS

Part-Time Regular: Up to 29 hours per week; Non-exempt (hourly)

Pay Rate: $14.00 - 15.00 per hour

SUMMARYThe Part Time Sales Associate helps create a welcoming, organized, and successful thrift store while providing excellent service to customers and supporting the daily flow of store operations. This role works alongside staff and volunteers to keep merchandise moving from donation to the sales floor and ultimately support New Life's mission. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, takes pride in a well-organized store, and is comfortable staying active in a fast-paced retail environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide friendly, helpful, and professional customer service.
• Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and handle customer transactions.
• Receive, sort, price, stock, and merchandise donated items.
• Keep the sales floor clean, organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing; Recover and straighten merchandise throughout the day.
• Assist customers with locating merchandise and answer questions about store products and policies.
• Assist with donation receiving and other back-of-store operations as needed.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers and volunteers to meet daily store goals.
• Follow established safety, cash-handling, and operational procedures.
• Support the mission, values, and culture of New Life Furniture Bank.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and frequently move throughout the store.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to operate retail and office equipment.

SCHEDULE AND LOCATION

• Part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position.
• On-site role at New Life Furniture Thrift Store in Sharonville, OH.
• Regular schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on business needs.
