What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audio Visual Technician position at New Life Fellowship Ministry?
Position summary:
The Audio / Visual Technician supports the church’s worship and ministry through hands-on operation and coordination of media systems, including video, lighting, and audio. This role assists with live and streamed services, records and edits media content, maintains equipment, and trains volunteers. The Audio / Visual Tech adapts to a variety of technical needs for services and events, collaborates with technical director, and helps plan and execute productions that enhance the church’s mission.
Compensation:
- $18,000 annually (part-time, 20–25 hours/week)
Responsibilities (frequency varies — duties performed as needed; not all are weekly requirements):
Cinematography, production & operations
- Operate and direct cameras for live services and events as scheduled.
- Capture video for streams, recordings, and promotional projects when requested.
- Produce and edit video content using Adobe Creative Suite on an as‑needed basis.
- Manage streaming workflows and coordinate live switching/graphics (ProPresenter7) for scheduled broadcasts.
- Participate in technical rehearsals as required to ensure camera and production readiness.
- Troubleshoot and maintain video and post‑production equipment when issues arise.
Lighting
- Set up, focus, and hang stage/event lighting for services and special events when needed.
- Operate lighting consoles and implement looks for Sunday services and occasional events.
- Perform basic lighting design and on‑site adjustments during scheduled productions.
Audio (professional — as scheduled or on special events)
- Support audio operations, including running sound checks and monitoring signal flow for rehearsals, services, or events.
- Mix front‑of‑house and/or streaming audio when assigned or required.
- Troubleshoot microphones, mixers, and signal chains as issues occur.
- Maintain audio equipment and recommend upgrades or repairs as needed.
Technical planning & equipment management (ongoing/periodic)
- Assess equipment needs for upcoming services or events; recommend purchases or upgrades as planning occurs.
- Maintain and organize media closets, cables, and equipment; perform periodic inventory and labeling.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures and backup plans; implement when changes or issues arise.
Notes
- Responsibilities are performed based on the service, event and project schedule, ministry requests, and staffing, not all tasks are required every week.
Qualifications:
- Follower of Christ, growing in Christian disciplines.
- Working knowledge across professional video, lighting, and audio.
- Familiarity with professional production procedures, techniques, and terminology for video, lighting, and audio.
- Skilled in camera operation, multi‑camera production, and basic cinematography; comfortable with digital video capture, file management, switching, and graphics integration.
- Proficient with professional lighting practices, including fixture operation, console programming, basic rigging, and executing lighting looks for worship and events.
- Proficient with audio fundamentals: microphone selection and placement, signal flow, sound check procedures, and mixing for front‑of‑house and/or streaming.
- Flexible team player who supports the church’s vision, policies, and procedures.
- Dependable, strong work ethic, and committed to technical excellence that serves ministry.
- Able to manage small projects, meet deadlines, and balance multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Possible requirement of set-up and break-down of heavy equipment during regular services and/or special events inside or outside the building.
Projected Work Schedule:
- Part‑time (20–25 hours/week)
- In office - As needed per Director of Technical Arts
- Thursday,: 2:00pm – 9:00pm
- Saturday Service: 2:45pm - 6:30pm
- Sunday Service: 6:45am - 1:15pm

- While membership to New Life Fellowship is not required for this position it is highly recommended, to be a member of the church or be willing to become a member upon hire.
