Job Summary:
The Music Director is an essential role for the ministry of New Life Church. The music director’s role is to lead with excellence on weekends both musically and spiritually - including preparation, thought, and intention given to each weekend service and event. The music director will oversee the volunteer musicians at NLE.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the volunteer musicians at New Life East (NLE).
- Play at all special services at NLE (Good Friday/Easter, Ash Wednesday, Christmas Eve, Worship Nights, etc…)
- Schedule the band each week in PCO (Worship Pastor will schedule vocals).
- Oversee resourcing the volunteers in PCO for all services.
- Partner with NLE production in set up/tear down process that promotes efficiency and excellence.
- Partner with worship pastor in developing team members by providing clear communication and feedback to volunteers on a regular basis.
- Partner with Worship Pastor in volunteer recruitment, auditions, onboarding and pastoral care, and building culture.
- Committed to making NLE their local church community.
- Attend Worship Department meetings as needed.
- Partner with Worship Pastor in facilitating and hosting team nights. Including intentionally building relationships and culture with the worship team.
- Serve each weekend with musical and spiritual excellence.
- Be available to serve as Worship Leader 1 once a month or as needed.
- Manage and respond to calls and emails as needed.
- Assist the department in coordinating various tasks and procedures.
- Communicate regularly with supervisor about departmental issues.
- Assist supervisor with special projects, events, and diverse tasks in support of the department.
- Attend department meetings, regular all-staff meetings and other meetings as required.
- Utilize a thorough understanding of New Life Church employee policies and procedures.
- Work in close association with the entire staff to build and maintain a strong team environment.
- Cooperate with leadership by performing any other duties as assigned when asked to do so.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven strong gifts/anointing in worship.
- Proven strong ability to lead a band and team building abilities.
- Proficiency on at least two musical instruments.
- Possess basic music production skills.
- Proficiency in Ableton. Creating sessions with tracks, editing on the flying, etc.
- Demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks and to complete projects with little guidance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately at all levels.
- Able to work well under pressure and time constraints, utilizing multi-tasking skills and assessment of the priority of the moment in an environment of changing priorities and demands.

Education and Experience:
Experience: 5 years experience as a music director or worship leader.

Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Close visual acuity to is necessary to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
