About the Program
New Leaf Recreational Therapy LLC delivers personalized recreational therapy services for children and adolescents through the CLTS program. Sessions are conducted in both home in community settings, and our recreation center location with a focus on helping youth build independence, confidence, and essential life skills through engaging, goal-oriented activities.
Position Overview
We are seeking Recreation Therapy Providers (Independent Contractors) to provide one-on-one services to children and teens. This position is well-suited for individuals who enjoy working directly with youth, value a flexible schedule, and prefer a hands-on role within the community.
Providers are responsible for facilitating structured recreational sessions tailored to each client’s individual goals. Activities may include games, outdoor recreation, sports, creative projects, social skill development, life skills training, and other therapeutic recreation interventions.
The primary objective of this role is to support clients in enhancing daily functioning, developing coping strategies, improving social engagement, and achieving greater success in home and community environments.

- Therapeutic recreation or activity-based programming
- Mentoring, or direct support roles
- Special education or behavioral support services
- Social work, counseling, or psychology
- Art, music, or other creative therapies
- Human services or community-based support programs
- At risk youth programs
Schedule
Work hours are flexible and coordinated based on client availability.
Most sessions take place after school hours, during evenings, or on weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related qualifying field
- Ability to work independently in home and community environments
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication
- Ability to modify activities to meet varying ability levels
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments to identify client needs and goals
- Develop and lead recreational therapy sessions aligned with treatment plans
- Promote growth in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas
- Encourage participation in community and leisure opportunities
- Track progress and adjust programming as needed
- Complete weekly notes and required documentation
- Maintain communication with parents/guardians regarding services
- Support clients in identifying strengths and building skills
- Help connect clients with relevant community resources when appropriate
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards
- Attend required trainings or meetings
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children, teens, or individuals with disabilities preferred
- Background in recreational therapy or a related field
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally
- Ability to self-manage schedule and workload
- Access to a computer for documentation purposes
- Ability to pass required background checks
- Must obtain personal liability insurance (contractor requirement)
Preferred Qualifications
- CTRS certification
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience in recreation, therapy, or human services
- Experience in community-based programming
Pay: $50.00 per hour
