The New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA) is a state agency responsible for maintaining the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway - two of the busiest toll roads in the United States. The NJTA is dedicated to the safe and efficient movement of people and goods along their toll roads. Everyday, the Authority’s highways provide the safest, quickest, and most convenient routes for hundreds of commuters, truckers, and recreational travelers.


POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of technology devices and cabling related to the computing, electrical, sensory, communication, signage, imagery, mechanical, tolling, and audio-visual infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, maintain, and repair technology devices and cabling as needed, including but not limited to pulling copper cabling and fiber for a variety of technology devices and terminating copper and fiber at end unit devices such as cameras, variable message signs, and lane controllers.
  • Perform first, second, and third levels of system maintenance and repair such as overall system malfunction diagnostics, sub-assembly, or module malfunction diagnostics and basic component or circuit device failure detection diagnostics.
  • Utilize software diagnostics, equipment services information, and schematic and circuit description material. Apply information to maintenance or services repair of devices, sub-assembly.
  • Utilize generally accepted test equipment in the performance of his/her maintenance and repair service functions, including but not limited to oscilloscopes, signal generators, and other related tools of the trade.
  • Perform work in accordance with current industry standards as well as Authority policies and procedures.
  • Maintain service records, project reports, and work orders as directed.
  • Obtain a Class A CDL within six (6) months of occupying the job title.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, and cabling of a wide variety of technology devices.
  • Technical/vocational school graduate or Military Occupational Specialty in electronics.
  • Four (4) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, and cabling of a wide variety of technology devices will be accepted in lieu of Minimum Qualification 2 – Technical/vocational school or Military Occupational Specialty in electronics.
  • Ability to maintain and utilize, in a safe and efficient manner, common and specialized hand and power tolls associated with the position requirements.
  • Perform physical activities involving the use of upper and lower body extremities. Ability to work in confined environments and from enclosures, ladders, rooftops, communications structures, and elevation devices such as bucket trucks and scissor lifts up to 100 ft above the terrain or roadway.
  • Perform responsibilities in all weather conditions. Maintain, operate, and move equipment and power sources up to 75 lbs. Ability to work alongside traffic in a lane or shoulder closure.
  • Must possess a valid NJ Driver’s License and Class A CDL.
