In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is $15.50-$18.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.

Position Summary:
Work as a Teaching Assistant for academic summer programs that are run through the Center for Pre-College Programs for post 4th grade - post 11th grade students. (There are 30 Teaching Assistant Positions available).
Essential Functions:
- Supervise a group of 24 elementary, middle, or high school students while on campus and on off-campus field trips.
- Assist classroom instructors in activities related to students' academic development and enrichment in mathematics, communications, computers science, and engineering.
- Monitor students' behavior in and outside of the classroom and model appropriate behavior for students.
- Assist teachers in assessing student progress toward achieving the learning goals.
- Build positive and appropriate relationships with students as a strong role model and mentor throughout the program.
Additional Functions:
- You are required to attend all general meetings with program directors and staff, training sessions, and clean-up dates
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Enrolled in college for Fall 2026 with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Full availability is required for all of the following dates:
- TA Training: Summer 2026
- Preparation Days: Summer 2026
- Program Dates: July 6th – August 14th (Mondays–Thursdays)
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with elementary, middle, or high school students.
