JANITOR FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

Shoreline Container Holland

Rate: $19.00 - $23 depending on experience

Schedule: Monday thru Friday 7am to 3pm

JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician / Janitorial role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and overall upkeep of the converting department and surrounding plant areas. This position plays a key role in supporting food safety standards, operational efficiency, wastewater compliance, and a safe working environment for all employees.

What You'll Do:

This position involves performing a variety of routine cleaning and custodial tasks, including but not limited to:

  1. Perform monthly FSSC zone cleaning (floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall) to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  2. Clean and maintain breakroom areas, including all surfaces, appliances in and outside, ceilings, and floors.
  3. Clean and sanitize restrooms, sinks, and adjacent areas.
  4. Support and monitor wastewater treatment processes to ensure proper operation and compliance.
  5. Operate floor scrubbers to clean walkways and production areas.
  6. Collect and remove trash throughout the facility.
  7. Pick up litter from outdoor areas, including lawns and parking lots.
  8. Maintain exterior grounds, including snow removal, weed trimming, and general upkeep.
  9. Apply salt to walkways and entrances to prevent slip hazards.
  10. Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of cleaning supplies.
  11. Assist with light maintenance tasks, including but not limited to changing light bulbs and painting.
  12. Responsible for overall facility housekeeping standards.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
    • Supports and adheres to internal quality and safety programs.
  • Works independently without direct supervision.
  • Works overtime as needed. Flexible to work varied hours (surrounding assigned shift) as business needs require.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Regular and predictable attendance based on scheduled hours.
  • Ability to maintain diplomacy, confidentiality and tact essential, as individual interacts with all levels of the organization.
  • Must possess strong organizational and motivational skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for an extended number of hours per shift, walk, bend, twist, stoop, squat, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  3. The employee is required to reach with fingers, hands, and arms.
  4. Must be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions.
  5. The employee must regularly lift, push or pull and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  6. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • The job is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, varying temperatures, and moving mechanical parts.
  • Safety gear must be worn as required.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent,  Ability to lift, bend, stand and twist over a long periods of time. Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and motivational skills. Ability to maintain diplomacy, confidentiality and tact essential, as individual has access to high levels of cost, design and company sensitive materials. Must be able to work with frequently changing priorities.
