What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maiden Warehouse - Switcher 1st Shift position at New-Indy Containerboard?
SUMMARY: The Switcher position is responsible for safely and efficiently operator a tractor-trailer or bobtail truck in accordance with state laws.
POSITION SCHEDULE: 3:30 PM - 3:30 AM; MONDAY - FRIDAY, SATURDAY AS SCHEDULED.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frequent sitting for extended periods of time.
- Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer.
- Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving.
- Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers.
- Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office.
- Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately. Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
- Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CDL Required
- Minimum of two years experience as a Truck Driver required
- Minimum of two years experience as a Switcher /Yard Jockey required
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
