Full-Time Project Engineer / Drafter (AutoCAD, Microvellum)
Immediate Opening – On-Site Position
Ashland, Oregon
Compensation: $20.00–$25.00 per hour DOE, with opportunities for advancement based on performance and experience.
New Horizons Woodworks is a rapidly growing custom cabinet and architectural woodworking company specializing in commercial architectural millwork projects for healthcare facilities, schools, businesses, government buildings, and other institutional environments. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer / Drafter (AutoCAD, Microvellum) to join our team in Ashland, Oregon.
This is an immediate opening for a full-time, on-site position with a stable and growing company where employees take pride in their work, support one another, and share a commitment to quality, accountability, and excellence. Our CNC-driven production facility utilizes industry-leading technology and software to deliver exceptional commercial casework and architectural millwork projects.
Position Responsibilities
- Interpret architectural drawings and specifications
- Draft highly detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD
- Process production engineering packages using Microvellum, including material takeoffs, cut lists, G-code, labels, and reports
- Prepare and submit project documentation to clients within required schedules
- Assist Project Managers in resolving project challenges and coordinating project requirements
- Communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, contractors, and customers regarding project details
- Conduct accurate field measurements at active construction sites
Basic Qualifications
- Drafting experience with AutoCAD
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to report daily to our Ashland, Oregon office
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites for field measurements and project-related duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 1–2 years of cabinetry, millwork, or construction industry experience
- Experience with Microvellum and/or WoodWOP software preferred
- Experience interpreting architectural drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of commercial casework and architectural millwork manufacturing processes
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to active construction sites to perform field measurements and project-related duties
- Ability to climb ladders and access elevated areas when necessary to obtain field measurements
- Ability to walk uneven terrain and navigate active construction environments safely
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry measuring equipment, drawings, samples, and other project-related materials
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing drafting and engineering tasks
- Ability to visually review drawings, specifications, and computer-generated documents
