Duties
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities that promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and physical movement for residents with memory care needs
- Develop customized activity programs based on individual resident preferences, abilities, and care plans, including recreational therapy techniques and dementia-friendly exercises
- Assist residents with mobility support during activities to ensure safety and comfort
- Build strong rapport with residents through empathetic communication, fostering trust and emotional well-being
- Collaborate with team members to monitor resident progress, document participation, and adjust programs accordingly to meet evolving needs
- Coordinate resident events and special programs that encourage community involvement and resident engagement
- Maintain accurate records of activity participation, resident responses, and any incidents or observations related to memory care activities
- Will be required to perform transportation for residents to appointments, using the facility transport van.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care environments preferred
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, geriatrics, and senior care best practices
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or memory impairments is highly desirable
- Strong event planning skills with the ability to develop creative program ideas tailored for seniors with cognitive challenges
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and scheduling purposes
- Demonstrated ability to build meaningful rapport with seniors and foster a positive community atmosphere
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs
- Compassionate caregiving attitude with a focus on aging issues counseling and social work principles is a plus
- Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
