Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to our residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospitals, and will be skilled in administering medications and supporting individuals with various health challenges, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care. This role requires a strong understanding of medical documentation, patient care, and the ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Duties
- Administer medications to residents as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to nursing staff.
- Assist with daily living activities, providing compassionate support to residents in need of personal care.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Conduct routine checks of vital signs and report any significant changes in resident health status.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate record-keeping and medication management.
- Provide education and support to residents and their families regarding medication administration and health management.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs is essential.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols, including tube feeding and catheter care.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring memory care is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical documentation practices and HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
