Position Title: Medication Technician (Med Tech) - Days Weekends Only
Department: Care Department
Reports To: Executive Director/Director of Resident Care
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary
The Medication Technician is responsible for safely preparing, administering, and documenting medications in accordance with state regulations. This role supports residents’ health and well-being by ensuring accurate medication delivery, observing for changes in condition, and assisting with daily care needs. The Med Tech must demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and compassion, particularly when working with residents living with dementia.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Medication Administration
- Accurately prepare and administer medications according to physician orders and community policies.
- Maintain proper documentation in MARs (Medication Administration Records), electronic systems, or daily logs.
- Verify medication counts, especially controlled substances, and report discrepancies immediately.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, and organizing medications.
- Notify nursing or management of any missed doses, medication errors, or adverse reactions.
Resident Care & Support
- Observe residents for changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition; report findings promptly.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as assigned, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Provide respectful, dignified care with sensitivity to the unique needs of individuals with memory impairment.
- Support residents during meals, activities, and transitions throughout the day.
Safety, Compliance & Standards
- Follow all state regulations regarding medication handling, controlled substances, and resident care.
- Adhere to infection control policies, including proper PPE usage and sanitation practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the medication cart and medication room.
- Participate in required training.
- Protect resident privacy and uphold HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in assisted living, memory care, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in fast-paced or stressful situations.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
