We are looking to add to our staff here at New Hope Veterinary Wellness Center and are looking for a veterinary receptionist that is compassionate, outgoing, self-motivated, and embraces the healing nature of our center to join the team.

The Veterinary Receptionist plays a vital role for day-to-day function of the Clinic. This position is one of dedication to clients, our community, and staff.

The purpose of this position is to serve as receptionist at the New Hope Veterinary Wellness Center, by nurturing an open and welcoming environment to each patient’s well-being and healing experiences. The position includes providing exceptional customer service, performing record keeping duties, to perform clerical duties related to animal patient care and treatment, and to provide miscellaneous support to the veterinary staff. This position requires a practical knowledge of hospital organization and services, the basic rules and regulations governing visitors and animal patient treatment, data transcribing, word processing, and mail service and a practical knowledge of the standard procedures, veterinary records and terminology used in the hospital. The receptionist answers telephones and emails, greets clients, prepares patient files, receives and relays client correspondence, updates client financial records and processes client invoices. The receptionist has the ability to diffuse negative client situations and foster client bonding while working to maintain a positive team environment within the clinic.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and patients to the practice and provide for their comfort while they are in the practice. This includes greeting clients, offering them to be comfortable in the waiting area, etc. Maintain a clean, peaceful, welcoming entrance to the clinic.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls utilizing proper telephone etiquette. Screen those calls that are handled by other staff members and take care of routine calls. Routine calls include those seeking information about veterinary services.
  • Prepare to receive appointments by reviewing the medical record, retrieving client records, and preparing needed forms in advance of clients’ arrival.
  • Accept payments from the client. Accurately process cash, care credit, debit card payments, credit account payments.
  • Scheduling appointments and procedures
  • Assist in the updating of client/patient files as needed including name, address, telephone numbers, referral sources, and vaccination and heartworm history. Ensure that all pets have reminders entered for the following year (regardless of where the vaccines were performed).
  • Prepare and send client correspondence such as thank you letters, sympathy cards. Prepare miscellaneous correspondence as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned as required.
  • Follow all hospital safety regulations and OSHA laws. Report any questions or concerns to hospital manager.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
