Controller

New Hope Manor is a nonprofit organization serving women with SUD. We are located in New York, and partially funded by NYS OASAS. The ideal candidate will have controller experience in a nonprofit organization, working with state funding, state reporting (CFR, CBR), working with auditors, and reporting to the Board of Directors.

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization by managing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to leadership in a clear and actionable way.

The Controller will supervise a team of 3 employees, reports to the Executive Director, completes monthly and quarterly reports including for Board Meetings, and is required on-site in Barryville, NY.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as internal policies.
• Oversee audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support strategic planning and business decisions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance staff.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to drive financial strategies and longterm growth.
• Completes required NYS reports (CFRs) and annual budget (CBR); submits to OASAS on time.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
• Master's degree or CPA preferred
• Proven experience (5 years) in financial management, accounting, or related role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problemsolving abilities.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
