What are the responsibilities and job description for the Learning Specialist position at New Hope Christian Academy?
Reports To
School Principal/Lower School Assistant Principal
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a love for God and His children

- Project a positive image of NHCA and a cooperative spirit at all times
- Takes ownership for the academic results of his/her students
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Provide direct instruction to qualified students, continually monitoring student progress to improve instructional
practice and student outcomes.
- Provides leadership and assistance to school administrators in the implementation of Response to Instruction and
Intervention framework.
- Attend weekly common grade level planning meetings to ensure comprehensive understanding of the curriculum
- Assist in maintaining weekly/bi-weekly progress monitoring documentation
- Gather relevant data prior to and through working with student(s) to provide feedback in the grade level planning
process and the Learning Specialist planning process
- Share relevant information about the performance and behavior of individual learners
- Implement strategies to accommodate individual learning needs/styles
- Facilitate both pull out and push in small groups
- Monitor and report to teacher, grade level team, Learning Specialist team, and Principals on the implementation of
individual and/or small group programs
- Observe and document learner strengths, achievements, and needs
- Provide information to classroom teacher for home/school formal/informal communication
- Provide home/school formal/informal communication when necessary
- Assist in supervision of students and materials
- Actively participate in the on-going development of the school’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) via
collaborative learning and a proactive, personal commitment to continual professional development
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the Administration
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 60 hours of college credit and 21 years of age required. Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
