What are the responsibilities and job description for the Eye Doctor's Assistant / Optometric Technician - Willing to Train! position at New Holstein Family Eye Care?
Do you like to learn new things? Are you a "people person?" Do you enjoy helping others? Would you enjoy an early start to the weekend?
We are four independent optometry practices interested in hiring a FRIENDLY, organized, and responsible "people person" to join our New Holstein AND Chilton team. Experience in optical, medicine and/or insurance is a plus, but we will train the right person. This position can be full-time or part-time. Full-time is approximately 35 scheduled hours per week and includes working from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Thursday with one evening (Wednesdays) until 6:00 PM, and 8 to 1 PM on Fridays. We are not open on weekends...so you will only work a 4.5 day work week! Part-time hours would require availability for at least three full days per week (partial day availability does not count).
This position may be a hybrid optometric tech/frame stylist/optical assistant. Doctor's Assistant (aka Optometric Technician or "Tech") duties include performing a complete health history (including medications, allergies, previous illnesses, etc.) using our electronic health record (EHR), taking vital signs, performing basic visual testing and recording results for use by the optometrist, reading spectacle prescriptions using a lensometer and performing minor adjustments and repairs on patients' frames as needed. You will also be trained to conduct specialty testing including Visual Fields and OCTs.
