Body Shop Technician
Position Overview
Geoff Penske GMC in Shillington, PA is in need of a Body Shop Technician. The Body Shop Technician is responsible for performing high-quality automotive body repairs, refinishing, and restoration work in accordance with industry standards and GM guidelines. This role involves diagnosing damage, preparing repair estimates, restoring vehicle structural integrity, and ensuring exceptional workmanship to deliver safe, reliable, and visually appealing results.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle damage to determine required repairs.
- Perform body work including dent removal, panel replacement, structural repairs, welding, and frame straightening.
- Prep and refinish surfaces using sanding, masking, priming, and painting techniques.
- Restore vehicles to OEM specifications using proper tools, equipment, and repair procedures.
- Accurately follow repair orders and maintain detailed documentation of work performed.
- Collaborate with estimators, painters, and other shop personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and hazardous materials handling.
- Keep up-to-date with industry repair methods, equipment, and training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal collision repair training preferred.
- 2 years of experience in automotive body repair (or completion of accredited training program).
- Proficiency with body shop tools, including welders, frame machines, and sanding equipment.
- Strong understanding of automotive materials (steel, aluminum, plastics) and repair techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders and OEM repair procedures.
- I-CAR, ASE, or OEM certifications a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift and move heavy parts and work in physical, hands-on environment.
- Math, Reading and Basic Computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Professional appearance and work ethic
- Must have a valid PA driver's license with good driving record
