New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts’ only public school that involves all grades (6-12) in the Early College approach. Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are full-time students on a college campus, with younger students earning college credits while attending school. Our educators and coaches work collaboratively to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and athletically as they prepare for college and career success. Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Coach
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Head Varsity Basketball coach, the JV basketball coach is responsible for supporting the development of a competitive, disciplined, and character- driven basketball team. The JV coach will assist in teaching technical and tactical skills, preparing athletes for the varsity level, and fostering an environment that promotes inclusion, leadership, teamwork, accountability, and sportsmanship. The coach will serve as a positive role model while supporting the academic, social-emotional, and athletic growth of early college scholar-athletes.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- National Federation of High Schools Coaches Association Member
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, techniques, tactics, and player development principles.
- Previous coaching and/or playing experience in basketball.
- Experience working with diverse student-athlete populations in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and motivate student-athletes toward academic, athletic, and personal success.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, athletic department personnel, school administrators, and families.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the institution's requirements for operating school vehicles.
- Successful completion of all required background checks and employment screenings.
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification prior to the start of the season (must be provided to the Athletic Director).
- Completion of all required MIAA coaching education requirements, including Concussion Education Training (must be provided to the Athletic Director).
